Sciatica can be caused by slipped discs, pinched nerves or some forms of arthritis.
How do we treat Sciatica at Canberra Remedial Therapies?
Using the knowledge that disc problems are often associated with Sciatica and an imbalance in muscle function of the key lower back muscles we reset muscles such as Psoas major, Psoas minor, Iliacus, Quadratus lumborum and Piriformis.
Recently a lady came to me with constant pain radiating down the back of her leg from her buttock area. Her doctor had called the problem Sciatica, but she had received no relief from the treatment recommended by her doctor which had included exercise and other manipulative therapies.
Once we established the problem area, her core stability was tested and found to be very poor, lower leg stability was also poor.
The first step is to stabilise the core, followed by the lower leg. Once this was completed and the changes locked in the client to her amazement indicated that the pain from her Sciatica had disappeared.
Further testing of the problem revealed no pain, she was very happy that her Sciatica had been resolved so quickly.
A follow up treatment was scheduled, the client reported one week later that her Sciatica had not been a problem since her first treatment. She has decided to have a regular maintenance treatments and after some months still has no Sciatica problem.
